Hello, I'm Dave Anderson and I have been studying with Eddie for about six
and a half years. I am an elementary band instructor for the Santa
Fe Public Schools and have also worked as a performing musician for
close to forty years primarily playing saxophone, flute and clarinet.
I have done recording, stage shows, and musicals
and have been fortunate to have worked with such greats as Mel Torme,
Ella Fitzgerald, Glen Campbell, Rosemary Clooney, Linda Ronstadt and
others as well as the New Mexico Symphony
Orchestra and the Santa Fe Women¹s Ensemble. These days I get
a lot of enjoyment from playing in small jazz groups, taking on special
projects, and working with Eddie.
Within the past several months, Eddie has encouraged me to write my
own etudes which are sometimes based on motifs taken from other pieces,
but mainly they come from themes inspired by Eddie himself. Etude
³Number 7² is derived from our discussion of the strength
and beauty resulting from a sequence of thirds (individual notes and
chords), both major and minor.
Chromaticism is used throughout the etude to provide
interest and to ³shade² the various chord tones. -Enjoy!
